What breed of dogs are comparable to Golden Retrievers and labs in personality?
I love Golden Retrievers but I would like to get into another breed. My mother in law has labs so I would like something different. I don’t care if it is a small dog or a big dog but I love the personality of Golden and I can not find a dog that is as perfect as a Golden. I want it to be good with kids and all people and other animals, dogs and cats alike. I want it to be loving and loyal and very playful. I want it to be sweet and gentle. Is there such a dog?

Boxers are also great dogs with families and kids. They tend to be full of energy and require a strong and disciplined owner as they tend to always want to push the button and play a ton!

Yes its called a well bred, well trained, and socialized dog. All that you described are not breed specific entirely but the result of good breeding, training and socialization.

No other dog is comparable to a Golden’s personality! Of course, I am very biased as I own 7 of them! lol

I agree- there is NO better dog than a Golden! I have a yellow lab and a Malamute/terrier mix right now, but my Golden was THE best dog ever! My 2nd favorite is the West highland White Terrier

Yup, Golden’s and Labs have pretty amazing personalities. Have you thought about a Flat Coated Retreiver? They are a very happy breed, with a fun personality and are very loyal!

I love goldens. There are several different breeds of retrievers (Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, Flat-Coat Retrievers, Nova Scotia Duck-Tolling Retrievers, Curly Coated Retrievers), although I’ve only owned regular old golden retrievers, so I couldn’t tell you what the other breeds are like. If you find a breeder of one of those breeds in your area, see if you can meet the adult dogs and evaluate their personality.
