My dog is an outside dog and it rains during the winter months. Every time I come home he’s sitting next to his doghouse wet. I don’t know how to train him to use the dog house. Plz don’t give answers about keeping him inside.
Just to clear the air we keep him inside when we’re home, we leave him outside when we’re not home which is about 8 hours.

I will be able to get a dog, if it lives primarily outside. I just need a way of keeping him in the yard. I don’t think I will be able to get a fence. I would rather not get an electric dog fence. If that is my only choice I would consider it, but I don’t like it at all.

Tying the dog with a rope. I would worry that he would get caught up in it and hurt himself. I really don’t know how much awarness they have of them. But, this would probably be the one I go for if we can’t get a fence.

Would there be a way to train the dog to stay in the yard?
Do you have any ideas to share on what I could do?

If you are worried that the dog will be bored, I have a LOT of time to spend. I am very much a dog person. If I could I would let the dog in the house in no time.

I forgot to mention that the dog will be sleeping in the house at night. The dog will also be able to come inside on bad weather days to play inside and to eat. I am outside a lot be with the dog so he won’t be bored or isolated.

My poodle/doxin growls each time my other dogs goes near him when it has a toy or object in it’s possesion. I have been trying to train my dogs using the “dog whisperer” style. By not reacting and yelling, but by using a stearn “ssh” sound. But it has not been working. Especially when he goes into his cage where he is in his “safety zone”. I even try saying NO and if I try to take the object away, he gets even more aggressive. What techniques should I try or do?
I have 2 other male dogs, which make the growling a little more tense and I take the toys(such as rawhides) away because it causes the dog I am talking about to growl and bark which causes the other male dogs to react and sometimes growl and bark and sometimes bite back. He doesn’t growl all the time, only when I am too close.
