Dogs and Puppies

I will be getting a show dog in July. He is intact, 10 months old. I already have two dogs. One is a Corgi, he’s curious about other dogs and shows no signs of aggression. My oldest dog is a Bernese, she is protective of her home and is very alpha. (she’s only Alpha over other dogs, she knows that her ‘human pack members’ are alpha over her.)

I was thinking it would be best to introduce them in the large grassy area down the block, NOT in our dogs ‘territory’, once they get to know each other, I will walk them all home side by side so they can establish that they are a pack, and also wear them out a bit to decrease the risk of a spar breaking out. Then bring them all into the house, Bernese first, then my Corgi, and *then* the new ‘pack member’.

As far as dog psychology goes, would this work out? If not, please explain why it would not and perhaps explain a better way to do it. Thank you.

My dog had parvo when I adopted her from the local shelter. Within three days she was near death. She spent a week at the vet but came home 100% healthy. It’s been around two months since then. We moved right after that and are not living in the same house as we were when she was sick. She has been around many adult dogs and all are fine but I want to make sure it is ok to bring a puppy around her.

Good advice so far…but I can’t seperate them. That just isn’t feasible. He isn’t trying to hurt her, I know, but he is very rough. She has squealed like a banshee on more than one occasion. I don’t think caging them is healthy.

We have a 21 month old and a 3 1/2 year old dog. We brought home a stray kitten that we think is about 4 months old. He is afraid of the dogs and the dogs are a bit aggressive towards him. The strange thing is that we already have a cat that is 1 1/2 years old. We’ve had him since he was a kitten and he and the dogs have always gotten along. We want to keep the kitten, but we’re not sure how to get the kitten and the dogs to get along. Any suggestions?
