My puppies are restless. How can I get them to sleep through the night?
I have 2, 7 week old puppies. Ones a Lab and the other is Lab and Catahoula mixed. They are restless at night and I can’t seem to get them to sleep unless I’m sleeping with them. And they still wake up constantly. How do I get them to sleep. Some people say to use a clock that ticks. But I don’t have one.

Well, you could always go and find a cheap clock that ticks, it might be worth it for a good nights rest without them. Or you could go the tough-love approach and just let them whine it out until they’re so tired they pass out. They’ll get over it really quickly. whistler45

They should be in another room away from you for starters. You can use a small radio for some soothing noise, it doesnt have to be a clock. You just have to harden your heart and if they cry, let them. After awhile, they will understand that when the lights go down, it is time to sleep or to play quietly. All puppies go through this, it’s a time of changes for them and they need time to get used to them. answers4u, not insults

They are NOT going to sleep thru the night at 7 weeks of age. They cannot hold pee/ poop that long without having to go out.. They are far too young to be crated all night long without at least being able to get out once to go outside.. They are too young to be in your home yet.. That’s why you are having a problem.. ♥ DP ♥

Tire them out! Let them run around the house/yard–play catch, whatever–then they’ll be tired. You can also go BUY a clock with a tick, and what’s especially good is if you buy a sound maker with a heartbeat as a setting (sounds weird, I know.) For now you could probably just turn on a fan or something.
They also probably need to pee and that’s why they’re restless…they have very small bladders! So put some newspaper down near where they sleep so they can pee there.
DON’T give in and sleep with them–then they’ll learn they can annoy you and you’ll eventually come in. So even if you have to endure a sleepless night…do it. xo379

Puppies that age are a lot like babies so you can forget sleeping thru the night unless you are OK with them messing in the house. Id suggest you take them for at least a 20 minute walk before bedtime,or actively play with them. You can also purchase supplements from the pet store that have valerian root in them, which will promote calmness. No matter what though, expect to be up every 4 hrs for bathroom breaks. Heath H
