Is there a cable dog run suitable for large dogs?

I have one for my medium dog and it works great, is there a larger, stronger run suitable for large, strong dogs? Please provide links or actual products, I have already been to several stores. I do not want a tie-out, he will just dig it up, I would like something that I can anchor into trees or something that he can’t break lose from. We have open property so I have a kennel for him but he needs to get some more exercise during the day while I am at work. Thanks!

You should NEVER leave a dog unattended on a tie-out or cable run, especially all day long while you’re at work!
If your property is “open”, then your best bet is to fence it.

my neighbor had a home-made one. just a large cable and a chain. the dog had run of a 3 acre lot. he had it anchored to a tree about 12 feet up and then to another tree same height

You can go to any petstore, or anywhere that sells pet supplies and they have unbreakable cable tie-out leashes. It might come with the stake to go in the ground as well, but you can just take it off that.
All my neighbors in my old apartment complex used to connect one end to the building, and one to a tree, then attatched another cable to that and clipped it to the dogs collar. They had about fifteen feet either way, and could run back and forth across the ‘yard’ and never run into each other. It worked great, and one of them was a huge dane mix!
A friend of mine used these tie outs for her husky, Who could chew through absolutely everything. It was wrapped around a tree in a way she could run in circles, and get all over the yard.(i’m not sure how she managed that) She would chew and tug and pull and never got loose–Unless she broke her collar.

dogs tied out can become strangled, they can get the line wrapped around their legs,, the risks are not worth it.
and in case it never donned on you,, DOGS DO NOT EXERCISE THEMSELVES..
your dog would be much better off if you took time and gave him a good run, played fetch for an hour, took him swimming etc. even mental stimulation such as teaching him obedience or tricks or agility .. he would be a much happier contented dog with more interaction from you.
fencing a section of your property would also be a fantastic idea

and your dog can move back and forth rather in a small spot.

I used to use these for some of my dogs and found that the ready made ones from pet or discount stores weren’t strong enough. You would be better off to buy the hardware to make your own. You will want coated cable, a pulley, cable clamps, swivel snaps and eye bolts.
