If it a full bred then the Vet give a specific bred, or maybe a few. If, it is a mutt they even tell what they see in the dog, from the snout, ears, tail, tongue etc. But, only a really good vet know a mutt. It maybe a long coat Chihuahua, (I have ) or it could be a mix. If it's a small dog you should not be wanting to breed it as breeding small dogs can be dangerous for them if you don't know what you are doing and costly as they can often need c-sections. If you're not breeding it really does not matter too much what it is as long as you love it, which obviously you do to have saved her (Bless your heart for doing that) Your vet should be able to give you a pretty good idea as to breed, but I don't think there is anyway for sure to tell without costly tests that I'm not even sure would be 100%.
