How many puppies can an owner register with the AKC in a year?

puppies

Im curious how a dog owner can register tons of puppies with the AKC each year. I thought there was a rule that you could only register 27 a year. I know a couple who has had several AKC litters this year. 30+ puppies. It a nice facility but Im curious. How do these people get away with it? Is it considered a kennel or puppy mill?

Some people register hundreds with them. There is no limit, but if your sire has more than five litters, he must be DNA tested.
