How do you get dogs to adjust to a newborn?

dogs
help!! asked:

Im a single expecting mom with three dogs that have never been around babies or children. My one dog is an 3 year old male shepard and the other is a 2 year old otter hound and last by not least I have a 2 year old female boxer. All dogs are well tempered and well trained and fixed, never to have shown signs of aggression towards any of the people that they have been around just cats. Will they or could they be aggressive to the baby?

make sure the kid smells like bacon,,, jk

i think they will be fine

they may however get excited and curious so dont leave the kid on the sofa unattended or anything but i dont think you would do that anyway,,,

ive never seen an otherwiise well tempered dog go crazy around a newborn, and by the time the kid is big enough to be within “range” of the dogs they will be well used to your kid

First, you will want to train your dogs (if You have a ‘baby’room or going to make a ‘baby room’ that they are now not aloud to go in there, teach them that the baby crib means they shouldn’t go near it, they need to stay calm when around it.

Cats a something dogs feel they can ‘chase’ I don’t think they will fill this way about the baby. So you should be fine. :)

Good Luck and Gradz on the baby when it comes.
