How can I prevent dogs from urinating in my lawn and newly planted tree?
I have a neighbor next door whose dog is always urinating in my lawn and on my trees and bushes. I am new to the neighborhood and do not want to have conflict, only living here such a short time. If anyone knows a way to prevent this please let me know. Someone told me to put human or my own urine around my sidewalk and driveway. He told me that the smell is overpowering and will keep other dogs away. Is this true?

Fence up your place and to do what others have told you is absurb and do not do that part. Tell them neighbors to keep their dogs tied up or you will call the dog pond.

Urine is a boundry marker and if you do use urine use it like a marker and not as an overpowering scent.
I had the same problem once and used a diluted ammonia and spray bottle it worked in that particular instance but I can’t say it would work with a different dog.
If that dosen’t work leave some snacks laying around with a bit of laxative tea bags broken up in them and in a week or so the dog will be tied up at home.

There are pest repellents available at hardware stores that is for this purpose. I have used them for cats urinating or sleeping on lawn furniture, and it has worked for them.

It is the urine of FEMALE dogs that will burn your lawn. The urine of MALE dogs does not burn.
The best way to keep ALL dogs away from your yard is to sprinkle Cayenne Pepper (the spice) at the edge of your lawn, where ever the dogs have peed or pooped and around your tree. The spice will irritate their noses and they will not come back. You may have to repeat this from time to time, but it is a cheap solution.
My children and the neighbor children were bothered by dog messes at the school bus stop. I sprinkled cayenne pepper around where I knew the dogs had left “messages” to other dogs –and in a short time there was no more problem!!
Good Luck!!
