How can I nurse my dog back to health after a heart attack?
any advice is welcome, she’s acting very stiff, weak and slow now..one thing i am thinking of is brushing her teeth daily because i never did that before, the teeth are in terrible shape, so this may have had an effect on it

I suggest asking your vet what to do.

What did your vet advise you to do to help nurse her back to health? Once she is healthy enough, you might want to have the vet professionally clean her teeth to get all the stuff off that normal brushing won’t.

Aw bless! My dog had a heart attack a few years ago when he was about 15. To nurse him back to health we put him on a white rice and chicken fillet diet. It is easy on their stomach. You can also get a chew bone by pedigree chum which will help clean his teeth daily without the trauma of a toothbrush. Your vet may also give your dog a vitamin or healthy joint tonic to put in his food. I’m sure you won’t forget to give your dog plenty of hugs
I hope she improves well, giver her a pat from me!

Continue with vet’s recovery advice and let him/her and dog set the pace for her recovery. Avoid stress, including new situations like brushing her teeth. Often dental cleansing includes the use of an anesthetic which is not something you would want to subject a heart patient to right now so any new consideration should be prefaced by a consultation with DVM. You probably have already been advised about diet change, follow that and relax as she will pick up your tension. Have cared for 15 year old Chihuahua heart patient off and on (she’s now 18) and while she can’t outrun the neighbor’s greyhound (a little matter of leg length) she can still get upon the couch or the table without assistance.

Hi, I suggest you see a vet but before that you can always get some online advice from vet specialists. Here’s an example of reliable source of this kind:
