if the dogs are differnt genders there could be tht issue. the reason your dog barks at door bells and other people is because he is there to protect you. and he thinks the dog is a threat you have to show him tht the other dog wont hurt you. as for him barking at the door bell and stuff thts just how dogs are!

Sounds like your first dog has some issues that should have been addressed earlier before the other dog came into the picture. You should go to obedience classes with your dog and learn the methods to take care of excessive barking and running to the door. It is pretty much called meet and greet.
You won't learn it at pet smart or a dog store...you will need to go online and really get a good trainer. It won't take long, just some dedicated work from you.
Is she agressive toward the other dog? If so, you will need to keep them apart.... Depending on if the other dog is a purebred of some sort, there are breed foster or rescue groups out there that should be willng to take the dog for you.
You might want to think about this and then focus on your own dog. You have your hands full.
Good luck

If you got the stray dog recently, maybe you should put a "Found Dog" ad in the paper. Many newspapers will print those free of charge. Or maybe you could bring it to a local shelter. The people who lost the dog are probably looking for it and local shelters and newspapers are two places that they would probably look.

Just give it time and always supervise the dogs when they are together in time if it doesn't get any better look harder for a new home for the stray.

I have a girl lab that's very protective of us, and really mean to anyone who tries to be around us or our kids. I got a 4month old retriever and brought her home & to my surprise, the lab tried to attack her. I put a muzzle on her til she calmed down and stopped lunging toward the retriver. I know some might think its mean, but it worked and they are best buds now. The muzzle was on for about 5 hours. The puppy was allowed to go over to her, and smell her. Vise versa, Good luck & hang in there. Its really rewarding to see them play together all day now.
