Do you think dogs deliberately throw themselves into rivers to get rid of their owners?
Every year there’s a tragic news story of an owner drowning whilst trying to rescue their beloved dog from a body of water, but the dog always manages to survive.
Maybe the dogs get fed up with the same walk route everyday, or being fed the same old tin of dog food.
Dogs watch the news as well y’know, I reckon it gives them ideas.

dogs venture out on to ice because of irresponsible owners who are letting them roam free…

my old dog used to go into the sea every time we went to the beach and would go out further and further until all i could see was her head bobbing about about half a mile away
she always came back eventually though
are you saying this was some form of test?
was she hoping i would dive in and save her and then gave up waiting lol

I believe it ONLY happens if the dog knows they have been left something in the owners will. In future, I will ALWAYS take my floaties with me when I take my dog for a walk near water, just as a precaution. And those of you that own Portuguese Water Dogs, BE EXTRA CAREFUL.
Thanks for the heads up…..

Nah, any owner that would risk their own life for their dogs is a keeper! Most would just stand on the bank and scream. Plus dogs dont think that far ahead. LOL

No, this is foolish. Dogs do not do this.
If dogs want to get away from their owners, they look for other human company.
