Melissa asked: My dog had puppies almost 4 weeks ago but she doesn’t have any more milk. Is it alright to give them warm cow milk?

NO you should not give your puppy milk only puppy milk
Pets Own Milk is based on cow’s milk with the lactose removed. Lactose is the component in milk that dogs cannot digest(1) and which consequently gives the stomach pains and diarrhea, which in turn can lead to poor absorption of ingested nutrients.
Pet’s own puppy milk is the best solution for fast growing puppy.
All lactose has been removed to ensure optimum digestibility
Vegetable oil with a high linoleic acid content. Dogs are not able to synthesize their own linoleic acid so it must be supplied in the diet. Essential fatty acids have a variety of roles in animal metabolism but most noticeable will be improved skin condition and luster of coat
Milk protein is highly bio-available compared with meat protein. Levels in a pet food must be carefully balanced to ensure that the proportion of energy provided by protein is not excessive and is balance with energy provided via fat
A selection of minerals has been added to boost possible dietary inadequacies. Calcium in particular is not widely available from many food sources other than dairy and is an essential element for good bone development in growing cats and dogs, in particular large dog breeds. The crucial calcium: phosphorus ratio is ideally balanced for optimum uptake
Methionine is added because it is regarded as the most limiting amino acid in most dog foods and also being an essential amino acid, Pets Own Puppy Milk has added methionine to minimise any chances of deficiency Big Kisses

No dont give them the milk we drink cause they can not digest it. I believe they have this other type of milk for dogs and cats but check with your vet. PSOs gal

No, dogs are lactose intolerant.
Go to the vet and ask for esbilac. summer_time

No, do not give them cow milk. You can get puppy formula at your vet or local pet supplies store. At 4 weeks you can start to feed them puppy mush. It is quite normal for mothers to stop feeding their pups at this age. Vet Tech

at that age I would go to the store and get them a milk supp. for puppies. you should always double check with your vet though. doglover

Cow’s milk has no nutrition for them. Go to the store and get puppy replacer. You can also invest in high-quality puppy food and moisten it with puppy formula. They will start showing interest here soon and eventually they will eat it hard. Forsaken

At four weeks you should be feeding them puppymush.
Soak a high quality puppyfood in hot water … blenderize it and let the pups eat 4 times per day. animal_artwork

OK when my doberman pup was just getting her teeth, we would put a little bit of milk in her food to soften it up and it worked great!
So i say Yes. Although I’m not a vet or a vet technician so i can’t tell that that is fine for all dogs. junior_bubbly31
