I have a lab that is in labor and is having contractions, but i heard that dogs wait until night time to have their pups.

That’s not always the case. If she’s having contractions now then she’s already in stage 2 labor & the time is NOW. You’re definitely one of the lucky ones. Hope everything goes well
They would, in the wild, deliver at night and most domestic dogs follow suit in that a lot of owners go to sleep and wake up with a litter of puppies
However, this is not always the case. If she is in labour now, then she will start to deliver shortly. Make sure you have a vet on call incase of any complications and stay with her to reassure her and to make sure she starts nursing the puppies straight away.
dogs are alot like us when we go into labor you never know how long it’s going to take or when it will be done but if your real worried the i would take her to the vet just to be sure eveything is going ok my dad had a dog once and when she went into labor she had a hard time and it took a long time we took her to a vet and good thing too cause her puppis were to big for her to deliver on her own and she had to have a c section

Dogs do usually give birth at night, but it sounds like your girl is going to be an exception.
