Pee Bee asked: I just adopted a dog from the shelter home and I would like it to befriend my old dog. I hope they will be friends. How do I introduce my new dog to my dog?
The own I just adopted is a Cocker Spaniel, very friendly while the current dog I have is a Dachshund. They are both males. I am worrying whether they will fight or not. I bringing the new dog home on Sunday. I hope they will get along fine.
My dachshund is an agressive-kind-of dog.

Momof2inCanada asked: We just got a new dog that is one year old and won’t stay out of the garbage. He will eat any kind of paper product, especially used tissues. YUCK! I’ve had a lot of dogs before and never had this problem. I don’t want to keep the doors closed all the time and with little kids in the house I can’t get rid of the garbage cans. This dog seems to know no boundaries. The water bottle seems to help but by the time he stops running to get squirted, he’s already ate the tissue. Would hot pepper sauce hurt him? I considered putting a few drops in the bathroom garbage can just to try it but I don’t want to hurt the dog. He’s almost the perfect dog except for this one thing.
The garbage cans are heavy metal cans with lids on them. He’s figured out how to open them with his nose and feet. I want to fix this problem with the behaviour, not change the way people have to dispose of their garbage. With little kids, I can’t put the garbage in a child proof cupboard…hence the name “child proof”.

BKHB asked: My dog is a little bit fearful and excitable. When we visit the dog park, she seems to have some fun (plays and runs with some dogs), but she also seems a little bit nervous and unsure around other dogs. She always shakes it off (like when she’s wet) after we exit the gates to leave. Should I keep taking her and hope she overcomes her shyness, or am I doing more harm than good?

Ketreva asked: Heel is a position, on a person who walks without an assistive device that position is with the dogs neck in line with the handlers hip, or a wheelchair it is usually the drive wheel the dog lines up with. When on crutches sometimes the person would walk similar to an able-body person, but sometimes the person would use a swing through gait. What is the position the dog should follow to avoid confusion to the dog?
Sorry for explaining heel. I have seen a lot of things called heel that are pretty laughable. Including what is taught by the dog trainer in my area.

Sandra asked: My german sherperd dog is already 10 months old. She is still very shy with other dogs. Even a very small size dog can chase her. If other dogs approach her aggresively, she submited immediately. I would like her to play with other dogs happily with confidence. Most dogs she met in off-leash park were very nice(not as aggressive as she thought). Please give me some tips on how to train her to be confident like a gsd should be.

JC asked: I have a rottweiler puppy who is now 6 months old. She is on Bakers puppy food (which states its up to 24 months old (2yrs)). I am wondering at what age can she go onto regular dog food, is it at 2yrs old or can it be sooner?

Sriparna S asked: I am thinking of getting a puppy growing to be medium sized but the problem is no one is at home from 8 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon. What should I do to keep the puppy occupied? Should I leave it in a crate that long? My father may come at around noon to have lunch and take the puppy out to relieve itself. What should I do for the puppy during the 4 hours or so it is alone at home?

Ingrid D asked: I am thinking about buying a puppy that has an inguinal hernia. The breeder let me know all about it and is letting me have him for a fraction of the price of the other puppies. However, is this surgery going to cost me a lot more money? Should I buy a regular healthy puppy for a few more hundred dollars? The puppy is only 8 weeks old. How soon before i can have the surgery?
